2010

New Brighton

This years outing went almost without a hitch. We would like to say a great big thankyou to everyone who helped out and especially to the floral pavilion in new brighton for providing us with perfection.

We will have all the photos from the day uploaded soon and I can assure you there are some to make you blush.

congratulations to Gary Holmen for taking best dressed
Ray Hannaway for second and
Sheldon Collins for taking 3rd prize

And now for the biggest thankyou which goes out to all the taxi drivers who gave up the day to come and join us. If it wasnt for all of you, this day would not be possible.

To everyone who wonders why we do this, please read this email that I received.

Please allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Stephen Anderson, I am 18 years old and I am visually impaired.  I am a former student of St Vincent’s School for the Blind, obviously taking part in the annual outing as part of the Liverpool taxi drivers.

I have felt, ever since I left the school last year, guilty beyond belief that I never let you appreciate how much I/we truly enjoy this outing.

To many of the students at St Vincent’s, it’s more than just an outing, it’s an eye opener, to realise how lucky we are, and how much people, especially in the City of Liverpool love us.  Though I am no longer a student at the school, yet I will be thinking very hard this July about my former peers, who I know will enjoy themselves once again, wondering why I ever left.

I personally adored it, in fact it was the day that I always looked forward to.  For this, I thank you most kindly for the service you graced us with.

All the gifts I was given are still being used to this day.  One of which I am using as we speak.  This I think is testament to your commitment to us as young people, and to us as a unique area of society, and how, even though you may not realise it, it has a positive effect on many for years to come.

Please pass this message on to the people that it matters to.  I will not be offended if you bring my complements up amongst others, or with the school, as I think it is right that my complements are not hidden away.

I urge you to keep up your fantastic work, which I’m more than sure you will.
